National Cadet Corps

HKSS(2015-11-05)NCC_Logo.jpgThe National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a premier uniformed youth organisation supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Singapore. The primary mission of the organisation is to “develop resourceful, responsible, resilient, loyal leaders and team players through fun and challenging military-related activities.” In Hong Kah Secondary, our four-year programme aims to develop leadership qualities, individual skills and strengths of character in our cadets.

Day of Training

Tuesday (Precision Drill and Freestyle Drill) (1500h - 1800h)
Thursday (NCC Training Curriculum) (1500h - 1800h)

Training Programme

The unit has many programme planned for our cadets. For example, individual field craft, various types of drills, adventure camps, inter-units games and shooting competitions.

Achievements

HKSS(2015-11-05)NCC_Achievement.jpgNational Cadet Corps Best Unit Competition (NCC BUC)

The NCC BUC is organized annually for all Land, Sea and Air districts. It serves as an assessment of the overall performance of the School Units in a Work Year. The BUC also seeks to promote comradeship among cadets, build up their teamwork and instil in them a sense of pride and achievement. 

HKSS NCC unit is proud to announce that it has achieved a Gold Award for the assessment year 2014. This achievement serves as an affirmation and recognition of the hard work and commitment put in by the cadets as well as teacher officers. 

Happenings – Learning Journey to SAF50@Vivo

In February 2015, the HKSS NCC Unit went on a learning journey to SAF50@Vivo held at VivoCity. Cadets had an exciting experience with the SAF, finding out more about the Tri-service forces. They had the opportunity to board our Landing Ship Tank, RSS Endurance, which is one of the biggest warships in the Republic of Singapore Navy. They also had a chance to tour this majestic ship and visited the Super Puma helicopter on board.

Happenings – Collaboration with MOE CCE Branch, Student Development Curriculum Division

In April 2015, Hong Kah Secondary School NCC Unit collaborated with MOE CCE Branch, Student Development Curriculum Division on creating CCE Lessons on developing 21st Century Competencies through CCA.

Happenings – West District Commander Visit

In June 2015, NCC West District Commander CPT How visited HKSS NCC Unit during the unit’s annual camp. He gave the cadets words of encouragement and motivation, and was also the Presiding Officer for the cadets’ promotion ceremony.

Happenings – Jurong Green CC SG50 National Day Observance Parade

In August 2015, the NCC unit took part in the combined schools SG50 Jurong Green CC National Day Observance Parade. The photo shows a proud moment for the cadets during the march past, where Unit Sergeant Major MSG Muhammad Jalaluddeen Wong Jeem and other Hong Kah Specialists lead the combined schools NCC Contingent during SG50 Observance Ceremony.
