Korean Educational Development Insititute Visit

On 27 January 2016, a group of 18 Korean Educators from the Korean Educational Development Insititute (KEDI), visited our school. In collaboration with the National Institute of Education (NIE), the korean visitors were engaged in a guided school tour and various dialogues sessions chaired by our Principal, Mdm Sung, on how our school uses the School Excellence Model (SEM) as a self-assessment tool for improvement.

Upon arrival, our visitors were given a warm welcome at the foyer by our school leaders, partnership committee teachers and one of our Korean Student, Kang Taehyeok. The session began with some exchanges of greetings and namecards, a photo-taking session and a guided school tour.

Following a brief introduction of Hong Kah Secondary School and Chiba Sakura High School by Mdm Sung (Principal, Hong Kah Secondary) and Mr. Jitushara Kotsuke (Vice-Principal, Chiba Sakura High) respectively,.

The session then resumed with a tea reception and a brief sharing of Hong Kah Secondary by Mdm Sung. Our Korean guests were particularly enthused about the programmes Hong Kah Secondary has to offer and were actively asking questions, despite the need for translation. This was then followed by an approximately 2.5 hours dialogue session on the use of the SEM as a self-assessment tool for improvement in schools.

The session ended with a gift exchange session where our distinguished guests each received a customised photo of this hosting visit. The KEDI educators gave a lot of positive feedback about our school, teachers and students. They were impressed by the vibrancy and warmth of our school.
