School-Wide Programmes

We are committed to engaging all our Hong Kah Lites through electronics education. We have organised a series of activities to excite our students in the learning process.

Assembly Programmes

Through our assembly programmes, we raise Hong Kah Lites’ awareness of the pervasiveness of electronics in our everyday life.

These assembly programmes include a music performance by the National University of Singapore’s Electronic Music Lab and a show-and-tell session by Mr Jolyon Caplin, Senior Lecturer from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Singapore Polytechnic.

Our teachers came up with interesting hands-on competitions to excite our students through purposeful play. These include a “Fly The Drone” competition where students fly a drone through an obstacle course, and a “Picomouse Activity” where students move a picomouse through a maze.

E-gnite! Week 2015

In conjunction with our first year of rolling out our school’s Applied Learning Programme in Electronics, we organised Electronics Week from 20 July to 24 July 2015. The theme of the week is “E-gnite!” as we seek to ignite the passion of electronics among Hong Kah Lites.

We organised a slew of hands-on and minds-on activities. These activities included an in-house LED Terrarium Workshop where Hong Kah Lites were introduced to electronics and learned about Science principles in an ecosystem; and exciting competitions such as the Korean RoboChallenge (where we pitted two robots to a “sumo-wrestling” match); the Project Work Carnival; and Project Recycle on recycling and re-using E-waste. In addition, we partnered the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore for our school to host the Aviation Bus where Hong Kah Lites learned about the relevance of electronics in the aviation sector; and ITE College West to guide our students in the design of a glow-in-the-dark LED Cube Workshop. To celebrate Racial Harmony Day and House Olympics, we flew a drone and took wefies and aerial shots of the school.
